Populations around the world are aging, but the experience of growing older varies widely across societies. In this talk, Dr. BoRin Kim will explore global aging trends and share real-world examples of how communities are supporting older adults through social connection, community-based care, and age-friendly environments. Drawing on research and practice, this presentation will highlight key lessons for promoting healthy, independent, and engaged aging.
About the Presenter
Dr. BoRin Kim is Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of New Hampshire and coordinates the Gerontology Minor. She earned her Ph.D. in Public Health and her MSW from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree in Social Policy from Seoul National University. Her research focuses on how health and well-being change with age, and how different types of support such as family, social connections, health and social services, care coordination, and senior housing can help older adults stay healthy, connected, and independent in their communities.
