Falls and fall-related injuries are one of the most significant health risks for older adults — but they don't have to be inevitable.
Join us for A Matter of Balance, a free, evidence-based program offered in collaboration with Cornerstone Visiting Nurses Association and organized by Village member Kathy Rockwood. This nationally recognized program helps older adults reduce their fear of falling and develop practical strategies to stay active, safe, and independent.
Over eight weekly sessions, participants will:
- Learn to view falls and fear of falling as manageable concerns
- Set realistic goals to increase activity
- Develop strategies to reduce fall risk at home and in daily life
- Build strength and balance through gentle exercises
- Sessions meet every Tuesday beginning October 13th at 1:00 PM:
October 20, 27 | November 3, 10, 17, 24 | December 1
Please note: This is a commitment-based program. Participants should plan to attend at least 5 of the 8 sessions to get the full benefit.
What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes.
Location: Portsmouth Senior Activity Center, Room 5 — 125 Cottage Street, Portsmouth, NH. Plenty of parking available.
Space is limited to 15 participants — register early to secure your spot!
