Join the Seacoast Village Project for an engaging talk with local historian Becky Karo, who brings a passion for history and an eye for detail to the story of Durham's own Colonel Alexander Scammell. A trusted officer under George Washington, Scammell's path crossed with one of the Revolutionary War's most notorious figures: the dashing British officer Major John André, captured as a spy in the Benedict Arnold conspiracy — and whose execution Scammell was charged with carrying out. Karo's presentation, illustrated with visuals, offers a vivid glimpse into these two very different lives caught up in the same extraordinary moment of American history.
