In Step with Humanity: A Journey of Trust, Generosity & Connection
In the spring of 2003, Atlanta McIlwraith, Executive Director of Seacoast Village Project, made a quiet but radical choice. She left a job she didn't love, gave up her apartment, packed only the essentials, and set off with a friend on what became a nine-week walk from West Chester, Pennsylvania, to Belfast, Maine.
Carrying just $5 between them, they established a few simple rules about asking and receiving. What followed became an unexpected education in trust, generosity, and human kindness.
Join us as Atlanta shares stories and lessons from this remarkable journey, a story about small rebellions, quiet faith, and the glimmers of hope found in everyday people. Along the way, she invites us to consider what can happen when we turn toward our fears and see one another first through our shared humanity.
The morning will include:
10:00–10:30 AM - Coffee & conversation
10:30–11:00 AM - In Step with Humanity with Atlanta McIlwraith
11:00–11:30 AM - Q&A & discussion
This free, intimate gathering will take place in the Music Room at Carey Cottage. All are welcome Villagers, friends, and members of the wider community.
